MEDICAL MICRO NEEDLING

About Medical Micro Needling

The skin is the first thing people notice in other people. Women and men alike desire to look young and vibrant, and many times, the first part of the body to look old is the skin. Thanks to advances in medical and pharmaceutical technology, skin can look younger and fresher no matter a person’s age. One of the procedures used specifically to improve skin today is known as Micro Needling, or also commonly known as Collagen Induction Therapy.

Collagen and elastin are the support system of the skin. Collagen, which acts as the structural support, and elastin, which gives our skin its elasticity, start to decline in the human body by the mid 30’s. When this happens, skin becomes less supple and fine lines and creases begin to form. Lips look less full, small pleats begin to form around the lips, crinkled skin forms under the eyes and deeper creases are soon noted to the naso-labial folds and forehead.

Medical Micro Needling utilizes tiny needles to make micro openings in the top layer of skin, thus stimulating the lower layers to produce more collagen and elastin. Just as you have to stress muscles fibers to build more muscle, this stress on the lower layer of skin will stimulate the body to self-repair with more structural support. These tiny channels also allow products applied to the surface to penetrate deep into the skin to heal the effects of aging much more quickly. The effect is thicker dermal and epidermal tissue with less crease, smoother color and tighter pores.

The time it takes to see results depends on the individual patient, but most patients have reported that their skin actually has a glow immediately following their procedure. In addition, patients usually continue to see results up to six months past their treatment due to the continued collagen production in their skin.

Most professionals have indicated that Micro Needling is safer than other skin procedures (chemical peels, etc.) because the fine needles cause very little skin damage.

Adding Micro Needling procedures to a good skincare regimen can aid skin staying fresher and more vibrant.
